he University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Medicine launches the first Master of Science of Anesthesiologists Assistant (MSA) program West of the Mississippi River. With CAAHEP national accreditation already received, January 2008 will realize the implementation of the charter class.
The UMKC MSA program is well underway in their endeavors to becoming one of the leaders in training Anesthesiologists Assistants. In addition to receiving CAAHEP accreditation, James Piontek, M.D. has been appointed Medical Director;

Melanie Guthrie, AA appointed the Program Director; a Skill Center (simulation lab) is under development; and a web page with pertinent information specific to the MSA program has been activated (www.med.umkc.edu/MSA/).  For individuals seeking a career in an associated medial field, where the demand out weigh job opportunities, where salaries are generally in the upper 1 to 2% of all salaries and the provision of direct patient care is appealing, then consider a career choice of an Anesthesiologists Assistant.
